Fitzpatrick, Farry Recognized for Driving Pennsylvania’s Next Era of Biomedical Innovation

PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) and state Sen. Frank Farry (R-6) were recognized this week by Life Sciences PA for their leadership in advancing biomedical innovation, strengthening the commonwealth’s life sciences ecosystem and expanding patient access to life-saving treatments.

Fitzpatrick was named the Federal Official of the Year and Farry the State Official of the Year. Life Sciences PA represents more than 900 organizations across the commonwealth’s life sciences sector, including biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, research institutions, investors and service providers supporting innovation in Pennsylvania.

In Congress, Fitzpatrick has been a leading advocate for strengthening America’s biomedical research enterprise and ensuring the policies and investments are in place for innovation to thrive. He has consistently championed robust federal support for medical research and worked to advance policies that help accelerate the path from scientific discovery to real-world treatments for patients.

Fitzpatrick has worked closely with the region’s life sciences community to support innovation hubs like the PA Biotech Center in Doylestown, a nationally recognized incubator helping early-stage biotech companies move promising discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace.

Earlier this year, Fitzpatrick welcomed National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to the PA Biotech Center to spotlight the groundbreaking work taking place in the region and underscore the importance of strong, stable federal investment in biomedical research.

“The breakthroughs that will define the future of medicine are being developed today by the researchers, scientists, and innovators powering Pennsylvania’s life sciences community,” said Fitzpatrick. “In Congress, I’ve made it a priority to champion their work — strengthening biomedical research, advancing policies that accelerate innovation and ensuring patients can benefit from the discoveries being made today. I’m proud to partner with leaders like Sen. Farry and organizations like Life Sciences Pennsylvania to keep our commonwealth at the forefront of medical discovery, and I’m grateful for this recognition of the work we’re doing together.”

Farry serves as the chair of the Senate Institutional Sustainability and Innovation Committee and co-chair of the Life Sciences Caucus. In those roles, he has worked to raise awareness among his colleagues about the importance of the life sciences sector in Pennsylvania’s economy and public health. In November 2025, Farry’s legislation expanding access to no-cost breast cancer screenings was signed into law. Act 52 of 2025 eliminates all out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic breast MRI’s, mammograms and ultrasounds for Pennsylvanians insured under state law.

“Pennsylvania’s life sciences industry plays such a transformational role in our economy, our communities and the future of medical innovation,” said Farry. “These individuals and companies are working every day to discover the next cure, treatment, medical device or lifesaving medicine. Supporting this industry has been incredibly meaningful, and I am truly honored to be recognized by Life Sciences PA.”

“Life Sciences PA was proud to honor U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and Pennsylvania state Sen. Frank Farry with our Federal Official of the Year Award and State Official of the Year Award, respectively,” said Christopher P. Molineaux, president and CEO of Life Sciences PA. “Congressman Fitzpatrick and Sen. Farry champion and support policies that create a policy climate that incentivizes investment in research and development and enhances patient access to novel medicines and technologies. As the state trade association representing the commonwealth’s life sciences ecosystem, we are thankful for their commitment to ensuring Pennsylvania and the United States are global leaders in advancing biomedical innovation.”
