The events, organized by the legislators, offered constituents the opportunity to search for unclaimed property and learn about other programs offered by Treasury like the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program, Keystone Scholars and PA ABLE. SEPTA and PennDOT also participated in the day’s events.

Unclaimed property can include things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, forgotten stocks, insurance policies, and more. It can also include tangible items, such as contents of forgotten safe deposit boxes. In accordance with state law, businesses must report property to Treasury after three years of dormancy.

Unclaimed property can be owed to individuals, businesses, government entities and nonprofit organizations.
