Mourning the Loss of Officer Shane Seiber

Philadelphia Police logo with black and blue line through with police flag in background and candle in foreground.

Our community suffered a tremendous loss on October 10 when Officer Shane Seiber made the ultimate sacrifice serving his community. A Bensalem resident, 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department and U.S. Air Force veteran, Officer Seiber leaves behind his wife Lisa and two young children. I wanted to extend my deepest condolences to Officer Seiber’s family, friends, fellow officers, and the entire law enforcement community.

This senseless act is a heartbreaking reminder of the sacrifices our police officers make every day. As Officer Seiber is laid to rest this week, I join our community in mourning his loss and extend my thoughts and prayers with all that knew and loved him.

PA Breast Cancer Coalition Pink Ribbon Award

In front of a PA Breast Cancer Coalition banner background, Sen. Farry and Rep. Curry hold their pink ribbon awards on either side of Pat Murphy, PA Breast Cancer Coalition president

I am honored and humbled to have received the Pink Ribbon Award from the PA Breast Cancer Coalition for my advocacy and legislative work expanding access to breast cancer screenings and diagnostic care. Act 52 of 2025 eliminates out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic mammograms, breast MRIs and ultrasounds for Pennsylvanians insured under state law.

Thank you to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition for all the great work they do for women fighting breast cancer and to Rep. Curry for her bipartisan partnership with this legislation.

I dedicated this award to Kristen, my wife who endured a 2-year journey with breast cancer, and to all the breast cancer survivors and thrivers. I remain committed to advancing early detection efforts in additional cancers.

State Funding for Warminster VFW

I am proud to have secured $50,000 in state funding for Warminster VFW Post 6493. The investment will be used for building improvements that will provide a more welcoming environment for their members and their families. I will always support the men and women who have served our country and ensure our local veteran organizations have the resources they need to continue their important work in our community.

Too often, good legislation can take years to become law. And with the legislative session coming to end and enough support from families like yours, we can show our fellow lawmakers that Pennsylvania families want and need this tax credit—and help get it passed sooner. New Law Cracks Down on Robocalls, Scam Texts and Caller ID Spoofing

Cellphone in right hand with screen reading “unknown incoming call.”

Legislation we unanimously passed enacting stronger protections from deceptive telemarketing practices will take effect today Monday, Oct. 19.

Under Act 47 of 2026, Pennsylvania’s telemarketing law will now cover modern forms of solicitation, including text messages, voicemails, ringless voicemails and robocalls. It also establishes stronger rules for when and how telemarketers can contact Pennsylvanians, including:

  • Prohibiting telemarketing calls before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m. and on Sundays.
  • Requiring prior express written consent for most robocalls and telemarketing text messages.
  • Prohibiting telemarketers from falsely identifying themselves or using deceptive caller ID information, including spoofed numbers.
  • Requiring telemarketers to stop a solicitation when a consumer asks them to do so.

The legislation also prohibits the use of AI-generated messages to deceive consumers.
