BCWSA Billing Questions Answered

We have heard from several residents with questions about their BCWSA bill since the launch of their new billing system. To help address the common questions and concerns they have heard, BCWSA created an FAQ sheet with helpful information about the new billing system and the billing process. Our Senior Expo is Next Week

I am hosting a free Senior Expo on September 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northampton Valley Country Club, located at 299 Richboro Rd. in Richboro. The event will feature exhibitors from state, federal, county, and local agencies offering information on various programs available to assist seniors.

There will also be refreshments, prizes, health screenings, flu and covid-19 vaccines, a prescription take-back on-site, and a senior SEPTA key card processing station.

This is a great ‘one-stop shop’ opportunity for seniors and their families and caregivers to gather valuable information and meet face-to-face people in our area who can assist them with a wide range of services. Our staff will also be on site during the event to address any state-related issues or questions.

Bensalem Shredding Event – September 19

To help residents guard themselves against identity theft, Rep. Tomlinson and are hosting a free paper shredding event on Saturday, September 19 from 10 am- noon at Bensalem High School, located at 4319 Hulmeville Ave.

Residents of the 6^th Senate District are encouraged to bring documents that contain sensitive information to be thoroughly shredded. We are also accepting donations of pet food and pet supplies in partnership with Women’s Animal Center.

Please note this event is for residents only; no businesses, please. Due to high demand, there is a limit of two file boxes of paper per individual to be shredded. We cannot accept plastic bags as the machine will not allow.

Prior to the event, please place all shredding materials and donation items in the trunk of your vehicle.  Once you arrive, stay in your vehicle and staff will assist with removing the materials. 

Supporting Local Food Pantry

I was proud to attend the ribbon cutting and grand opening of New Britain Food Pantry’s new location at 3400 Pickertown Rd. in Warrington Township, where I presented a $25,000 state funding check to support their relocation and continued mission of providing food and assistance to neighbors and families in need.

Supporting Local Veterans

It was great to connect with local veterans at The Friends of Valor Golf Outing last week. This great community event brings together golfers, sponsors and community members to honor and support local and national heroes.

Proceeds from the outing support programs like Victor Six, founded by Vietnam veteran David Christian, which works to improve the physical and mental well-being of veterans and reduce the risk of suicide in the veteran community.

New Law Cracks Down on Robocalls, Scam Texts and Caller ID Spoofing

Legislation we unanimously passed enacting stronger protections from deceptive telemarketing practices will take effect next month.

Under Act 47 of 2026, Pennsylvania’s telemarketing law will now cover modern forms of solicitation, including text messages, voicemails, ringless voicemails and robocalls. It also establishes stronger rules for when and how telemarketers can contact Pennsylvanians, including:

• Prohibiting telemarketing calls before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m. and on Sundays.
• Requiring prior express written consent for most robocalls and telemarketing text messages.
• Prohibiting telemarketers from falsely identifying themselves or using deceptive caller ID information, including spoofed numbers.
• Requiring telemarketers to stop a solicitation when a consumer asks them to do so.

The legislation also prohibits the use of AI-generated messages to deceive consumers. The new law takes effect Oct. 19.

Phishing Scam Targets “MyChart” Patient Portal Users

If you use MyChart — a popular online patient portal used by many hospitals and healthcare providers — please be aware of a phishing scam targeting patients.

State Attorney General Dave Sunday reports scammers are impersonating MyChart by sending emails or text messages that offer patients a chance to claim a reward in the form of a “MyChart Medicare Kit.” No such program or reward exists.

These emails and text messages are attempts to trick recipients into clicking on malicious links, and obtain passwords and personal information from patients, which allows hackers to gain access to the patients’ MyChart portals. Read about how to avoid this and other phishing scams here.

Remembering 9/11 25 Years Later

On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists highjacked four airliners on America’s east coast and turned them into deadly missiles, ultimately taking the lives of nearly 3,000 citizens in the name of Islamic fundamentalism.

Filled with passengers, two of the planes were flown into the World Trade Center towers in New York City and another into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.  The fourth, perhaps destined to strike the White House or U.S. Capitol, was brought down in Somerset County by brave passengers who fought back.

Twenty-five years later, we stand in remembrance of the attacks that changed our nation forever. May we always remember those nearly 3,000 lives lost and the families they left behind. May we honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and those civilians that became heroes running towards the danger. My hope is that we can come together as a nation as we did on the days that followed that unimaginable tragedy.
