September Events

Our shredding event in Bensalem is next week! Residents are encouraged to bring documents that contain sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, medical information, or bank account numbers, to be thoroughly shredded.

Due to high demand, individuals are limited to two file boxes of paper to be shredded. This is an event for residents only, no businesses, please.

Prior to the event, please place all shredding materials and donation items in the trunk of your vehicle.  Once you arrive, stay in your vehicle and staff will assist with removing the materials.

Please consider donating pet food or supplies for Women’s Animal Center. Please reference below links for acceptable items.

Recognizing the Life-saving Actions of Northampton First Responders

I had the privilege of joining the Northampton Township Board of Supervisors and Reps. Marcell and Hogan in recognizing the life-saving actions of the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad, Northampton Township Fire Department and Northampton Township Police Department. Their exemplary service saved the life of a 3-year-old child from a drowning on June 29th of this year. We are deeply grateful for their courage, quick response, and unwavering commitment to protecting our community.

Among those honored were:

Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad: Chief Jason Dowd, Battalion Chief Jay Colella, Paramedic Stephanie Bishop, Paramedic Roman Kourinnoi, EMT Ellea Lowden, EMT Kyle Keough

Northampton Township Fire Department: Acting Battalion Chief Joe Gasiewski, Lieutenant Andrew Witmer, Firefighter/EMT Jake Nienow, Firefighter/EMT Mike Giradi, Firefighter Ryan Johnson

Northampton Township Police Department and responding officers.

Lower Southampton Fire Department Celebrates New Quint Fire Truck with Housing Ceremony

I was pleased to join the Lower Southampton Fire Department, Rep. Hogan, and community members for the fire department’s ceremonial housing of their new Quint 6 fire truck.

Rep. Hogan and I were also proud to present the department with a check for $26 250 after securing more than $700,000 in state funding for volunteer fire and EMS companies across the 6th Senatorial District. This investment helps ease the burden on local taxpayers while strengthening the vital services our communities rely on. The Lower Southampton Fire Department will use the funding to replace outdated equipment, including new radios, ensuring they are well-equipped to keep our community safe.

Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping Law

Students are heading back to class, so we all need to be on the lookout for children around school buses and bus stops.

Some reminders about Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping Law:

  • Motorists must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm activated.
  • Motorists must stop when they are behind a bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.
  • Motorists following or traveling alongside a school bus must also stop until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn and all children have reached safety.

You can find more information about the law and penalties, and safety tips for children, here.

Neshaminy School District and the six police departments serving the district partnered with Bus Patrol to launch a new school bus safety program. As of August 27, 2025, all 102 Neshaminy School District buses will be equipped with advanced photo enforcement technology designed to identify vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses. Happy Labor Day

Labor Day is a time to celebrate the workers who make our communities thrive while providing for their families. No matter what your vocation or whether you’re an active employee or a retiree, I hope you enter this last stretch of summer with a wonderful holiday weekend.

In observance of the holiday, our office will be closed and will reopen on Tuesday September 2 at 9am.
