Trail Construction Continues on Ellis Road in Middletown Township

PennDOT announced that trail construction continues on Ellis Road in Middletown Township under a local safety improvement project.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, June 2, through Monday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Ellis Road between Fulling Mill Road and Woodbourne Road for tree clearing operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Roadway Construction Continues on Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) in Northampton Township

PennDOT announced that road construction continues on Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) in Northampton Township under a local safety improvement project.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, June 2, through Monday, June 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Route 232 (2nd Street Pike) between Tanyard Road and Upper Holland Road for curb and sidewalk construction.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PECO Utility Improvement to Close County Line Road in Philadelphia, Lower Southampton Township

PennDOT announced that PECO Energy will be performing utility construction on County Line Road in Philadelphia and Lower Southampton Township, beginning Monday, June 2.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 12, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, County Line Road will be closed Mondays through Thursdays between Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue/Bustleton Pike) and Barcalow Street. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 532 (Bustleton Pike), Route 132 (Street Road), and Route 232 (Second Street Pike).

Local access will be maintained. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Roadway Reconstruction to Close Langhorne-Yardley Road Intersection Beginning June 16 in Middletown Township

PennDOT announced that roadway reconstruction will close Langhorne-Yardley Road through the Bridgetown Pike Intersection beginning on Monday, June 16, under a $10.6 million project to improve traffic congestion and safety on Langhorne-Yardley Road at the Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road intersections in Middletown Township, Bucks County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Monday, June 16, through Friday, August 15, Langhorne-Yardley Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 through the Bridgetown Pike Intersection. During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Woodbourne Road, Route 332 (Newtown Bypass) and Route 413 (Langhorne Newtown Road).

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this contract, PennDOT’s contractor will construct a single-lane roundabout and realign the roadway; install upgraded traffic signals, stormwater management, ADA curb ramps, signage, and lighting; perform resurfacing operations; and improve mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The existing signalized T-intersection at Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike will be replaced by a single-lane roundabout. The proposed roundabout will help decrease vehicular speeds while improving safety and traffic flow. Motorists will be directed to use a detour route once the roundabout construction begins.

Improvements at the Langhorne-Yardley Road and Woodbourne Road Intersection include realigning the northern leg of Woodbourne Road and constructing auxiliary turn lanes on all four approaches. In addition, the eastern leg of Woodbourne Road will be widened to allow for a left turn lane on Langhorne-Yardley Road approaching Erica Drive.

In addition, features to improve pedestrian and bicyclist mobility include the following:

Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) installed at the following existing pedestrian crossings: Langhorne-Yardley Road just east of the Briggs Road Intersection; and on Woodbourne Road at the Core Creek Park and Maple Point Middle School crossings.
Five-foot-wide paved shoulders.
New paved paths along Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road to connect these intersections to the Core Creek Park driveways.
Pedestrian accommodations at the roundabout and signalized intersection.
Sidewalks constructed along the southern side of Langhorne-Yardley Road between Woodbourne Road and Briggs Road.

James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
