We hope to see you there! Upcoming Veterans ExpoRep. Marcell and I invite you to join us as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary saluting our local veterans at our upcoming expo. Our Veterans Expo will be held on Friday, April 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, at the Northampton Valley Country Club, located at 299 Richboro Road, Richboro, PA. The expo is open to all veterans of the 6th Senatorial District and their families, providing an opportunity to network with professionals who provide services to veterans. For information on all our upcoming events, visit my website: Upcoming Events – Senator Farry Emergency Management Services Law Task ForceAs chair of the Fire and EMS caucus, I was recently appointed to a legislative task force consisting of an advisory committee of stakeholders to review, analyze and update the Pennsylvania’s Emergency Management Services Law, which has not been updated in over 30 years. As part of this effort, I met with the emergency management coordinators from municipalities across the 6th Senatorial district earlier this month to get an understanding of their daily challenges and the input they have for solutions. It was a productive and insightful conversation, and I’m grateful for their dedication to keeping our communities safe. I look forward to continuing this work together to ensure our first responder community has the tools, resources and support they need to serve and protect our residents. Congratulations to New Eagle ScoutCongratulations to Nolan Scheller of Troop 139 in Warminster for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. I was proud to attend his Court of Honor this past weekend and present Nolan with a citation from the Senate of PA recognizing his dedication, perseverance, and outstanding achievement. For his Eagle Scout community service project, Nolan designed and built birdhouses for the Moland House Historic Park in Warminster, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Congratulations to Nolan on this well-deserved honor and I wish him continued success. Local Athlete Named to the Big 33 Football RosterEarlier this week, I had the pleasure of joining Michael Eckert and his parents at the Capitol. Michael, quarterback for Neshaminy High School football team, has been selected to represent Pennsylvania in the Big 33 Football Class, an exceptional honor following an outstanding season and career. Michael also took part in a special State Capitol celebration alongside his fellow Big 33 teammates and cheerleaders. Originating in 1957, the Big 33 Football Classic is one of the nation’s finest scholastic All-Star Football Games, currently showcasing Pennsylvania and Maryland’s premier football players. Now into its sixth decade, the Football Classic is often described as “The Super Bowl of High School Football.” Our community is incredibly proud, and we look forward to cheering him on as he represents both Pennsylvania and Neshaminy in the highly anticipated game on Sunday, May 24 at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field in Cumberland County, PA, with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. Senate Approves Measure to Protect Children from Harmful AI Chats
The Senate approved legislation to establish commonsense safeguards for children interacting with artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots. The bill will be sent to the House of Representatives for consideration. Senate Bill 1090 would require robust, age-appropriate safeguards to prevent content generation that encourages self-harm, suicide or violence against others, and directs users to appropriate self-harm crisis resources whenever high-risk language is detected. Heartbreaking stories have been reported of vulnerable individuals, including minors, who have used AI chatbots to cope with trauma, mental health, depression and anxiety. Multiple families have alleged in lawsuits that chatbot responses contributed to their teen’s death by suicide.
