New Crosswalk on Brownsville Rd. in Memory of Isabella Shinn

Last Tuesday, we held a dedication ceremony on Brownsville Rd. in Lower Southampton and Bensalem townships to unveil pedestrian safety improvements in memory of Isabella Shinn, who was tragically killed walking home from work at Bruster’s Ice Cream almost four years ago.

I joined family and friends of the Shinn family, along with Rep. Hogan, Bensalem Township Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, and local officials from Lower Southampton and Bensalem townships for the unveiling of dedications signs and a ribbon cutting at the new crosswalk. 

After her passing, the Shinn family advocated for safety improvements to honor Isabella’s memory and to ensure the road was safer for all pedestrians. Rep. Tomlinson, Rep. Hogan, and I secured the funding for the project and worked with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bensalem and Lower Southampton townships for several years to make it happen.

Isabella was only 18 years old when she passed, was set to graduate from Archbishop Wood and was accepted to all the many colleges she applied to in Pennsylvania. She had a second-degree blackbelt, was a swim instructor and a Phillies fan.

It was a bittersweet day to finally see this come to fruition and provide some peace for the Shinn family. This crosswalk will carry Isabella’s name and her memory, but more importantly I hope it reminds drivers to slow down and pay attention.

The improvements include a new pedestrian crosswalk, pedestal-mounted rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs), new ADA-compliant curb ramps, new sidewalks and a dedication sign in memory of Isabella.

DART’s 25th Anniversary and Grand Opening of Warminster Line

It was great to join the DART Committee and Bucks County Transport last Wednesday to celebrate the DART’s 25th anniversary and grand opening of their new DART East-Warminster line.

I was proud to present a citation to the DART for their anniversary and a check to Bucks County Transport for $550,000 in state funding from the Senate of PA that I helped secure to support the expansion of their Warminster line and continuation of their Warrington line.

DART, part of Bucks County Transport provides affordable, reliable transportation for residents traveling to appointments, shopping, work, and other essential stops. I will always advocate for public transit funding that is critical to our area.

William Penn Fire Company Awards Banquet

I attended William Penn Fire Company’s Banquet last Saturday, where members were celebrated for their years of dedicated service serving the community. I was honored to recognize a few of those members with citations from the Senate of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to Chris Russel who was recognized as their Firefighter of the Year and to the following for their years of service:

First responders are routinely called upon to perform extraordinary acts which are often taken for granted despite the risks. Congratulations to the honorees and thank you to the entire department for your commitment and dedication to protecting our community.

Help Bag Hunger Day in Warminster

It was great to join Warminster Food Bank and community members to help pack groceries for Help Bag Hunger Day at ShopRite of Warminster.

It was a true community effort and every donation accepted and every bag packed directly supports local feeding initiatives, including the vital work of the Warminster Food Bank, making a tangible difference for our neighbors facing food insecurity.

Medication Take Back Day is October 24

Medication Take Back Day is Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 10 am – 2 pm! This year’s Take Back event will feature 49 public collection sites throughout the county. Simply walk or drive up and drop in any unused, unneeded or expired medications for safe disposal.

In addition to prescription medications, law enforcement officers will be collecting over-the-counter and pet medications, vitamins, vaping products and more. Plus, select sites throughout the county will be collecting medications and sharps and distributing Narcan on October 24! Visit this site locations and what’s accepted.

(Can’t make it to Take Back Day? You can still safely dispose of your medications at one of the collection boxes located in Bucks County Police Departments. Find a box near you.
